Hossam El-Mandouh, treasurer of Zamalek SC, has defended the club’s current board, saying it has faced unfair criticism since taking office.
He revealed that some close associates had even advised him against joining the club during this turbulent period.
In a television interview, El-Mandouh said: “We are working to address Zamalek’s ongoing crises. These challenges have slowed our media engagements, but we remain focused on solutions.”
He added, “I want to assure Zamalek fans that we are committed to the club’s future. We are counting on them tomorrow to fill the stadium and show their unwavering support.”
El-Mandouh acknowledged the difficulty of the situation, noting that identifying problems is easier than resolving them.
“We arrived at a very challenging time. Some issues are well-documented, but solutions take time—sometimes a year or more. Our media appearances have been limited because the crisis demands careful attention, and plans often evolve as circumstances change.”
Addressing past and ongoing challenges, he said: “The October land issue has been a focus from the start. Mistakes can happen in management, but we have achieved numerous championships and continue to compete strongly, thanks to the support of our fans and board. We manage one problem at a time, yet new challenges keep arising.”
Reflecting on the timing of their tenure, El-Mandouh added: “Our council was chosen during an especially difficult period. Some even advised me against stepping in, given the impending transition to the next board. The problems we face now are far more complex than during our previous leadership. While the situation is tough, we remain committed to guiding Zamalek forward.”
