Bayern Munich have secured the long-term future of one of their defensive pillars, confirming that Dayot Upamecano has signed a new contract extension with the club.
The France international, who is of Guinea Bissau descent has penned a contract that will keep him at the Allianz Arena until summer 2030, warding off interest from Spanish giants, Real Madrid.
The new deal is understood to be significantly improved financially, placing Upamecano among the highest earners in Bayern’s squad and underlining the club’s confidence in his importance to their long-term project.
In recent months, Upamecano had been heavily linked with a potential move away from Munich, with Real Madrid frequently mentioned as a possible destination. However, Bayern have now moved decisively to end the speculation, ensuring the defender’s future remains firmly in Bavaria.
Since arriving from RB Leipzig in 2021 for a reported fee of €42.5 million, Upamecano has grown into a key figure at Bayern. Known for his physical strength, pace, and composure on the ball, he has become a regular starter and a cornerstone of the club’s backline across domestic and European competitions.
To date, the French international has made 180 appearances for Bayern, contributing six goals and 11 assists—impressive numbers for a central defender. His consistency and leadership qualities have earned him the trust of successive coaching staffs.
With this new long-term deal in place, Bayern Munich have sent a strong message of intent, reaffirming their commitment to stability and continuity as they plan for sustained success in the years ahead.
