Zamalek are set to be without key players Adam Kayed and Ahmed Fatouh for their decisive CAF Confederation Cup group-stage clash against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.

The Egyptian giants will host the South African side in the final round of group matches, but injury concerns have ruled out the likelihood of Fatouh’s involvement.

According to a source close to the club, neither Fatouh nor Adam Kayed is expected to be available for selection.

“So far, it is difficult for Adam Kayed or Ahmed Fatouh to be available for the Kaizer Chiefs match,” the source disclosed.

Kayed has already missed Zamalek’s recent league fixture against Smouha and is set to sit out the continental encounter as well as the upcoming cup tie against Ceramica Cleopatra, after sustaining a calf injury.

Fatouh, meanwhile, returned from international duty with the Egypt national football team at the Africa Cup of Nations carrying a hamstring tear and continues to undergo rehabilitation.

The Zamalek technical team is unwilling to take any risks with the pair, preferring to allow them time to fully recover rather than aggravate their injuries.

Both players are being targeted for a return in subsequent fixtures once declared fully fit.

Saturday’s encounter is scheduled to kick off at 16:00 GMT.
