Olympiacos have taken a firm stance regarding the future of Moroccan striker Ayoub El Kaabi, as the Greek club moves to safeguard the services of its leading goal scorer.
With interest in the forward growing across Europe, the club’s management has reportedly decided to push ahead with renewing his contract.
According to the ShootandGoal website, Olympiacos officials have prioritised finalising a new deal for El Kaabi after becoming increasingly concerned about the possibility of losing one of their most influential players.
His current contract is approaching its final stage, a situation that has attracted attention from several clubs beyond Greece.
The Greek champions are said to be accelerating negotiations in a bid to convince the striker to commit his future to the club.
Securing his signature for at least two additional seasons is viewed as a strategic objective, especially given his consistent goal-scoring form and his central role in Olympiacos’ attacking setup.
El Kaabi’s importance to the team became particularly evident during his absence in the derby clash against AEK Athens. Sidelined through injury, the Moroccan forward watched as Olympiacos struggled to assert themselves and were held to a 1-1 draw.
The result reportedly raised concerns within the technical team led by Spanish coach Mendilbar, highlighting how much the side relies on El Kaabi’s presence.
This decisive move by Olympiacos comes at a critical time, as the club looks to fend off potential suitors and retain a player considered indispensable to their ambitions in the coming seasons.
