Ousmane Dembele played a starring role on and off the ball in Paris Saint-Germain’s 5–0 rout of Marseille at the Parc des Princes.
The French winger was heavily involved in PSG’s second goal, pressing Leonardo Balerdi on the right flank, stealing possession and then racing clear before finishing past goalkeeper Jeffrey de Lange. It capped a miserable night for Balerdi, who was at fault in several of the goals that sank Marseille.
New footage released by Ligue 1 cameras has now shown that Dembele also targeted the Argentine defender verbally during the game.
In a brief exchange at midfield with Marseille’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Dembele was heard saying: “Balerdi is rubbish.” He then doubled down by repeating: “You know that,” and adding that Balerdi is “always running his mouth,” underlining the psychological edge PSG held throughout the clash.
The thumping defeat deepened Marseille’s crisis and was one of the final blows for coach Roberto De Zerbi, who lost his job shortly after the Clasico humiliation.
