Al-Ahly goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir has expressed his excitement following his outfit qualification to the quarterfinal of the CAF Champions League after stalemate against JS Kabylie.
Shobeir started and played full throttle of the match, as the Egyptian giants held JS Kabylie to a pulsating goalless draw in the penultimate match in Group B.
The draw sees JS Kabylie bow out of the CAF’s elite club competition despite having a game at hand in Group B, while Al Ahly secures a place in the knockout stage.
Speaking to the club’s website, Mostafa Shobeir congratulated the playing body after snatching quarterfinal spot, stressing his outfit achieved their main goal of progressing to the next stage of the competition.
“We played a good defensive match, and the start of the match was outstanding for the team. We entered the match with the goal of achieving victory.”
“We achieved our main goal of qualifying for the next round despite not winning the match. The coaching staff is trying to deal with the current stage through good recovery, in order to cope with the succession of matches and travel to compete in the Champions League.”

With one game to end the group stage games, Al Ahly are on top of Group B with 9 points, while JS Kabylie sit bottom with a paltry three points after 5 matches.
The Egyptian giants will take on FA Rabat in the final round of games in Group B, a match that will determine the winner of the group.
