Mali is considering fielding its local team against Algeria on September 10 for the last day of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. According to reports from malifootball.com, the Malian Football Federation (FEMAFOOT) is prioritizing the preparation of the local team for the UEMOA tournament in November and CHAN 2014.
Both Mali and Algeria are already eliminated from contention for the 2014 World Cup, and with Algeria having secured its place in the playoffs, the match may be seen as an opportunity for Mali to focus on developing its local talent.
As part of the preparations, Mali’s local selection is set to play a friendly match against Libya in Tunisia.
