Al Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy has warned his side to expect a stern test when they face Young Africans in the fourth round of the CAF Champions League.
The Egyptian champions travel to Tanzania to take on the Dar es Salaam-based outfit in a crucial group-stage encounter, with both teams eyeing maximum points.
Speaking to the media ahead of the match, El Shenawy described Young Africans as a strong and respectable opponent who play attractive football.
He stressed that Al Ahly’s objective is clear: secure victory, collect all three points and strengthen their push for the top spot in the group.
The Al Ahly captain also reflected on the club’s winning culture, noting that the Cairo giants are built around a mentality of success.
He revealed that wearing the Al Ahly jersey had always been a personal dream, and once that dream became reality, he quickly understood that every part of the club’s structure is geared towards winning trophies, with collective effort at the heart of every achievement.
El Shenawy added that the club’s rich history places a responsibility on every player to continue the legacy by contributing to new successes.
According to him, this sense of duty is deeply ingrained across the entire institution, from the players to the management and officials.
He concluded by acknowledging the challenges of playing away in Tanzania, citing the weather, passionate fans and the quality of the opposition.
However, El Shenawy insisted that Al Ahly always looks ahead and has travelled with one clear mission — to win.
