Meknes football club have suffered a significant setback after confirming that striker Zouhair El Dib will be sidelined for at least three weeks due to injury, dealing a blow to the team’s technical staff ahead of upcoming fixtures.
The club’s management revealed that El Dib sustained the injury during last Sunday’s encounter against Renaissance Zemamra in the ninth round of the national championship.
The forward was forced to leave the pitch after receiving a heavy challenge to his right leg, making it impossible for him to continue the match.
In an official statement, the Meknes side explained that the player underwent immediate medical and radiological examinations following the game in order to accurately assess the severity of the injury.
The statement further confirmed that detailed tests showed El Dib had suffered a second-degree sprain to his right ankle.
Concluding their update, the CODEM management stated, “Based on this diagnosis, the medical team confirmed that the player will need a period of rest and treatment of no less than three weeks, during which he will be completely absent from group training and official matches.”
El Dib’s absence represents a notable challenge for Meknes as they adjust their plans in the short term without one of their key attacking options.
