A legal dispute has arisen over the eligibility of Karim Osama, a player from Tanta club, during the match against Laveena in the Professional League, casting a shadow over the competition.
Tanta and Laveena shared points in their encounter during the 19th round of the Professional League.
A source from the Laveena club informed FilGoal.com, stating, “We have been in contact with the administrative bodies of three clubs: Abu Qir for Fertilizers, Wadi Degla, and Petrojet.”
The source continued, “It started with Karim Osama receiving a yellow card against Abu Qir for Fertilizers in the second round, then getting two yellow cards in the match against Al-Nujoom in the eighth round, famously known for tearing off his shirt during his goal celebration, resulting in his dismissal and receiving the second yellow card in the same match.
After that, he got a yellow card in the match against Wadi Degla in the 13th round and a match against Petrojet in the 18th round.
Finally, he participated in the Laveena match in the 19th round.”
“We confirmed the invalidity of Karim Osama’s participation in the recent match against Laveena, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
However, the error traces back to the player’s suspension in a previous match,” the source added.
“We will not file a complaint with the Football Association, but we will await the decision after the Competition Committee reviews the incident,” the source explained.
FilGoal.com reached out to the Competition Committee of the Football Association, and they stated, “Tomorrow, Thursday, is a day off, so the decision will be made next Sunday after reviewing the data of each match and confirming the player’s eligibility.”
The source noted, “A similar incident occurred earlier with a Damanhur player during a match against Kom Hamada Youth Center in the Second Division B, and the points of the match were awarded to Kom Hamada Youth Center.”
In the current situation, there is an ongoing meeting at Tanta Club, where a decision to dismiss the administrative staff of the team is expected.
On his part, Gamal Bashir, the administrative manager of Tanta Club, offered his apology on his personal page to the board of directors, the coaching staff, and the team’s fans for the unintentional error after working with the team for 31 years.
Laveena currently holds the fifth position with 31 points, and in the event of gaining two additional points from the Tanta match, they would secure the third position.
