Angolan forward Ieltsin Camões is on the brink of joining Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly in the current transfer window.
The Cairo-based outfit appears to have ended their long search for a new striker, having successfully completed a deal for the acquisition of the Angolan attacker, who plies his trade for Norwegian club Tromsø.
With Al Ahly reaching an agreement with Tromsø, the 26-year-old striker is expected to join the Egyptian club on loan running until the end of the season, with an option to make the move permanent.
Currently, travel arrangements are underway for Camoes to arrive in Cairo in the coming coming days to complete the formalities.
Camoes arrives with an impressive track record from his time in Norway. During the previous season, the Angolan forward featured in 27 matches for Tromsø, clocking 1,533 minutes and contributing to 21 goals, scoring 14 goals and providing seven assists, numbers that underlined his reputation as one of the club’s standout performers.
The transfer, however, was far from straightforward. In recent days, the deal appeared to be on the verge of collapse after Sayed Abdel-Hafiz, supervisor of Al Ahly’s football sector, had initially secured an agreement with both the player and Tromsø. That proposed arrangement involved a $500,000 loan fee, alongside a clause granting Al Ahly the option to buy the player outright for $1.1 million.
Per reports, negotiations took an unexpected turn when Osama Helal, Al Ahly’s contracts manager, entered discussions and submitted a revised financial offer to the Norwegian club. The new proposal was reportedly around $300,000 lower than the previously agreed figure, triggering confusion and dissatisfaction within Tromsø’s management.
The Norwegian club was said to have expressed surprise at the conflicting financial offers, describing the situation as unclear and difficult to understand, and at one point suspending negotiations altogether.
Despite the temporary impasse, both sides eventually managed to resolve the disagreement, with talks returning to the original framework of the deal. Al Ahly ultimately succeeded in finalizing the transfer as initially agreed, clearing the way for Camoes to become the club’s latest attacking addition.
The signing is expected to provide Al Ahly with a much-needed boost in attack as they push on in domestic and continental competitions during the remainder of the season.
