Tammy Abraham has officially returned to Aston Villa, signing a four-and-a-half-year deal after a year on loan from Chelsea.
The 28-year-old striker joins Villa from Besiktas for £18.25 million, following the Turkish club’s recent permanent acquisition from Roma for £11 million.
Abraham’s homecoming marks a full-circle moment for the England international, who enjoyed a standout loan season at Villa before moving abroad.
Emotional homecoming at Villa Park
Speaking to VillaTV, Abraham admitted the move still feels surreal. “It still doesn’t feel real. Since the first time I arrived here, I fell in love with the club,” he said.
“Ever since I left, I’ve pretty much watched every game and kept track of the team. We had an amazing season in 2018/19, and I always told myself that if I had to come back to England, Villa would be one of the special teams to return to.”
He added that returning to Villa Park will be deeply emotional, not just for him but for his family, and that he’s eager to reconnect with fans and former teammates.
Looking to lead and win trophies
Abraham, who spent time learning different cultures and gaining experience abroad, believes he returns “as a man” ready to help Villa achieve success.
“I’d like to bring my experience to help the team as much as possible and achieve something with this club,” he said. “We’ve got a good squad, and I don’t think it’s out of reach to push for every competition. I’m here and I want to win. I want to win trophies.”
Optimism for the future
The striker’s excitement is palpable as he prepares to step back onto the pitch with Villa. “Right now, the world’s our oyster. I just can’t wait to get out there with the team and make more memories,” Abraham said.
With his blend of Premier League experience and international exposure, Villa fans will hope that Abraham’s return can spark a period of silverware and sustained success at Villa Park.
