The Moroccan Hussein Amouta, expressed his desire to lead Jordan national team to victory in their next match against Bahrain in the third round of the group stage of the AFC Asian Cup.
Speaking in the pre-match press conference, Amouta stated his reluctance to pick a specific opponent for the knockout stage.
He remarked, “I don’t want to lose to avoid facing a particular team in the next round.
I cannot ask the players to intentionally lose to meet a specific team in the third-place match, for example.
We work professionally, and our goal is always to win, focusing on the result and performance.”
When asked whether he would prefer facing Saudi Arabia or Japan in the next round, Amouta emphasized, “I have no preferences.
We concentrate on our discipline, not the opponent.
If we correct our mistakes and capitalize on our strengths, we will be able to stand firm against any competitor.”
It is worth noting that the Jordanian national team, under Amouta’s guidance, currently tops their group with four points, edging ahead of South Korea on goal difference.
Bahrain sits in third place with three points, while Malaysia occupies the bottom spot with zero points.
