Spain has confirmed that the final of the 2030 World Cup will be held on home soil, with Madrid expected to host the decisive match.
Rafael Louzan, president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), made the announcement during a gala organised by the Madrid Sports Press Association (ADPM), highlighting Spain’s extensive experience in hosting major tournaments.
Louzan stated that the country would take a leading role in organising the 2030 edition, with the Santiago Bernabéu stadium emerging as the most likely venue for the final, according to reports from L’Équipe.
“We are doing everything we can to ensure that Spain lives up to expectations, and that the 2030 World Cup will be the best in history, the one that will celebrate the centenary of the first edition held in Uruguay in 1930,” Louzan said.
The RFEF president also commented on Morocco’s hosting of the recent Africa Cup of Nations, praising the North African nation’s infrastructure and the quality of its stadiums. “Morocco is undergoing a transformation on all fronts.
We must acknowledge its successes, particularly the magnificent stadiums of the AFCON,” he noted. However, he also expressed concern over incidents that occurred during the tournament, adding: “But this competition was also marred by scenes that tarnished the image of football.”
Louzan’s statements underscore Spain’s ambitions for the 2030 World Cup, positioning the country as a central hub for the centennial celebrations of football’s premier tournament.
With Madrid in line to host the final, Spain aims to combine logistical expertise, world-class facilities, and historical significance to stage a memorable climax for the first World Cup centenary edition.
The RFEF will now continue discussions with FIFA and co-hosting nations, Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, to finalise preparations for the 2030 tournament.
