The buildup comes at a time when the Parisian side is on the verge of welcoming back several key players after a spell marked by notable absences.
Head coach Luis Enrique and his technical staff are closely monitoring the outcome of Monday’s training session to evaluate the physical condition of a number of important names, including Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi, alongside Fabian Ruiz, Nuno Mendes and Joao Neves.
The aim is to restore technical balance ahead of a European fixture carrying significant weight.
Hakimi has returned to focus after a prolonged absence that began with PSG’s clash against Bayern Munich in early November, before he linked up with Morocco for the Africa Cup of Nations.
That tournament proved emotionally demanding, particularly following the heartbreaking extra-time defeat to Senegal in the final, an outcome that left its mark on the squad.
Despite the continental setback, Hakimi made his return to Paris midway through last week and immediately reported to the training centre in Poissy. Those close to the club say the right-back appeared calm and highly motivated, eager to put the disappointment behind him and fully concentrate on the challenges ahead with PSG.
Sources also revealed that the Moroccan defender had previously declined surgery last autumn, choosing instead a specialised rehabilitation programme that allowed him to recover sufficiently to feature at the AFCON.
Although he started the first three matches from the bench before becoming a regular starter in the latter stages, the length of his absence meant he was unable to reach peak physical condition.
Luis Enrique has approached Hakimi’s situation with caution, explaining that the player is dealing with a minor physical issue that does not cause major concern.
