The internet has been buzzing with wild rumors for several days regarding Samuel Eto’o’s potential departure from Anzhi Makhachkala, but the latest information from his agent, Peppino Tirri, suggests that the Cameroonian striker might stay in Dagestan.
Tirri stated to the Russian media Vesti, “I can assure you that Eto’o will definitely stay at Anzhi. It would be very difficult to organize his transfer because Samuel is not ready to leave the club for a lower salary.”
Despite interest from several major European clubs eager to secure the services of the Indomitable Lion, Eto’o currently receives an annual net salary of 20 million euros, making him the highest-paid player in the history of football. The main challenge lies in finding a club willing to match this salary.
Eto’o had previously expressed his intention to reunite with José Mourinho at Chelsea, and while Mourinho acknowledged the interest, no further developments have been reported on that front. The financial aspect appears to be a significant hurdle in potential transfers for Eto’o at the moment.
