FIFA expected to rule in favor of Al-Ahly due to “El Shenawy”

FIFA expected to rule in favor of Al-Ahly due to "El Shenawy"

Al-Ahly football club awaits financial compensation from the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) following the injury of Mohamed El Shenawy during his participation with the Egyptian national team in the Africa Cup of Nations, specifically in the clash against Cape Verde in the final group stage match.

In accordance with FIFA regulations, Al-Ahly is seeking to activate the “Club Protection Program” to obtain compensation.

El Shenawy sustained the injury while representing the national team, and FIFA’s rules permit clubs to claim compensation under the mentioned program.

The details of the Club Protection Program outline compensation for teams when a player is injured, starting from the 28th day of the injury.

The compensation period does not exceed 365 days, meaning the actual compensation for Al-Ahly will commence from the 29th day of El Shenawy’s injury, not the first day.

FIFA determines the compensation amount based on the number of days the injured player will be absent from matches and the player’s basic salary, excluding bonuses and contract variables.

Al-Ahly is required to inform FIFA about the details of El Shenawy’s contract.

Sports commentator Hany Hathout disclosed in a recent statement that the expected duration of Mohamed El Shenawy’s absence from play could range from 4 to 6 months.

The club now looks to FIFA to rule in favor of the compensation claim, adhering to the established guidelines of the Club Protection Program.
