Moroccan international Youssef Belamri has shared his excitement following his move from Raja Casablanca to Egyptian giants Al Ahly during the ongoing winter transfer window, describing the switch as a special moment in his career.
The midfielder expressed his delight at joining what he referred to as the “Team of the Century,” underlining the significance of the opportunity.
In a video posted on Al Ahly’s official Facebook page, Belamri revealed that Argentine star Ángel Di María has been his childhood idol.
He explained that he followed Di María’s career closely while growing up and made conscious efforts to model aspects of his playing style after the former Real Madrid and PSG winger.
Reflecting on his journey, the former Raja Casablanca player credited his parents as the biggest sources of support throughout his football career.
He stressed that the encouragement from his father and mother played a crucial role in helping him persevere and ultimately achieve his dream of playing for a major club such as Al Ahly.
Belamri also spoke about a long-standing personal ambition, confirming that he had always dreamed of playing alongside one of Egyptian football’s greatest icons.
He named Mohamed Aboutrika as the legend he would have loved to share the pitch with, highlighting the influence of the former Al Ahly star on his football aspirations.
The Moroccan international further noted his preference for playing in midfield, even though he has not featured regularly in that role as a mainstay during his career.
