Al Ahly have stepped up their search for a new striker, with Algerian forward Moncef Bekar emerging as a prime transfer target.
The Egyptian giants are understood to have identified the Dinamo Zagreb attacker as a suitable addition to bolster their attacking options and have already opened contact with the 25-year-old over a potential move.
Bekar only joined the Croatian champions from Major League Soccer side New York City FC last summer and remains under contract until 2028.
Despite not being a regular starter, he has made a strong impact this season, scoring nine goals in 20 appearances across all competitions to rank as Dinamo Zagreb’s second-highest scorer.
The striker also featured for Algeria at the most recent Africa Cup of Nations, making one appearance before the North Africans were knocked out by Nigeria at the quarter-final stage.
Reports suggest Al Ahly are prepared to table an offer in the region of €2 million as they look to secure Bekar’s signature.
