Former Liverpool star Charlie Adams has revealed the secret behind Mohammed Salah’s starting role in the Champions League clash against Olympic Marseille.
The Egyptian star denied himself rest to feature in the highly competitive clash, held at the Orange Vélodrome on Wednesday night.
Salah lasted the entire duration as the Premier League cruised to a resounding 33-0 victory, boosting their chances of securing automatic knockout stage slot.
Hungary international Dominik Szoboszlai scored a direct free-kick to open the scoring for the visitors before the half hour mark. An own goal from Geronimo Rulli and Cody Cody Gakpo cemented victory for the Reds in the high-stake clash.
Explaining Salah’s starting role, Adams told BBC Sport: “Salah had four weeks to think about what he did and said, but I think the talks were settled before he traveled to the Africa Cup of Nations because they didn’t want to go back to that issue. If there were still problems, he wouldn’t have played today.”
Despite not scoring or registering an assist, Salah showcased resilience and determination throughout the match.
