Modern Future’s first football team is wrapping up its preparations today, Tuesday, for the encounter against Municipal of Mahalla in the third and final round of the group stage in the Egyptian League Cup.
The highly anticipated match between the two teams is set to take place tomorrow, Wednesday.
The Alexandria-based Union team, having already secured its place in the tournament’s quarter-finals, currently holds the top spot in Group 1 with 6 points. Meanwhile, Municipal of Mahalla occupies the second position with 3 points, and Modern Future trails in third place with a single point.
The lineup is completed by Smouha in the fourth position, also with a single point.
Modern Future and Municipal of Mahalla are vying to secure the second qualifying spot from Group 1.
Modern Future clinched the title in the inaugural edition of the League Cup for the 2022 season, triumphing over Ghazl El Mahalla with a resounding 5-1 victory in the final.
On the other hand, Ceramica is the defending champion from the second edition, having secured the title in the 2023 season with a 4-1 win over Al Masry.
The League Cup draw divided the participating teams into four groups, each consisting of four teams.
Group 1 includes Modern Future, Union, Smouha, and Municipal of Mahalla.
The other groups are Pyramid, Farco, Tala’ea El Gaish, and Zed in Group 2; Ceramica, Enppi, Ismaily, and El Dakhlia in Group 3; and Al Masry, Arab Contractors, National Bank, and Gouna in Group 4.
