The Moroccan national football team officially secured a place in the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations, currently taking place in Ivory Coast, ahead of their upcoming match against Zambia.
The qualification for the “Atlas Lions” comes after the outcomes of the third and final round of matches in Groups One and Two. Morocco, positioned at the top of Group Six with four points from two matches, is now assured of advancing to the knockout stages.
Ivory Coast, finishing third with three points in Group One, and Ghana, securing two points as the third in Group Two, contributed to Morocco’s advancement.
The competition regulations dictate that the top two teams from each of the six groups, along with the best four third-placed teams, progress to the knockout rounds of the continental tournament.
Even if Morocco faces a defeat against Zambia, regardless of the outcome of the match between Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Morocco has solidified its presence in the next stage.
The Moroccan national team is set to conclude the group stage by facing Zambia on Wednesday at 9:00 PM at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro.
Alongside Morocco, other teams that have already secured a spot in the quarterfinals include Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Cape Verde, Egypt, Senegal, Guinea, Angola, Burkina Faso, and Mali.
