Egypt’s national team coach, Rogério Vitoria, engaged in discussions with a delegation from the Egyptian Football Federation in Ivory Coast, comprising Gamal Allam, Khaled El-Darandaly, and Hazem Emam.
The talks aimed to explore strategies facilitating the overseas professionalism of Egyptian players, a move anticipated to benefit the national team, given the prevalence of European-based professionals in all African Cup of Nations (AFCON) squads.
The trio from the Football Federation is set to present these propositions to clubs upon their return from Ivory Coast, aiming to streamline the process of player professionalism abroad.
In a separate development, the Egyptian Football Federation issued an official statement clarifying the status of Mohamed Salah, the national team captain.
The statement declared, “After additional examinations conducted on Mohamed Salah in the last few hours and following communication between the medical staff of the national team and Liverpool, it has been decided that the player will return to England after the Cape Verde match to continue his treatment.”
Liverpool’s manager, Jürgen Klopp, confirmed the return of the Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah to the club after his injury during Egypt’s match against Ghana in the African Cup of Nations 2023.
Mohamed Salah sustained the injury in the second-round match against Ghana in the African Cup of Nations group stage, exiting the game early in the first half due to the impact of the injury.
Jürgen Klopp, in a post-Bournemouth match press conference, stated that Mohamed Salah would return to Liverpool to continue his treatment and rehabilitation in the coming period.
Klopp clarified that Mohamed Salah would rejoin the Egyptian national team if they advance to the tournament’s semi-finals, indicating that by then, Salah would have recovered from his injury.
