Al Ahly have announced the signing of Egyptian right back Ahmed Eid from Al Masry Port Said on a three-and-a-half-year contract during the current winter transfer window.
All financial and administrative details of the move were finalised in recent hours, allowing the defender to join up with Jess Thorup’s squad without delay.
Eid took part in Wednesday evening’s training session at Mokhtar El-Tetsh Stadium as Al Ahly prepare for their CAF Champions League group-stage clash against Young Africans of Tanzania in matchday three. His immediate integration into the squad underlines the club’s intention to use him as a genuine competitor for the right-back position in the second half of the season.
Now 25, Eid’s story has come full circle. He began his youth career in Al Ahly’s academy before moving to Zamalek’s youth ranks, where he was promoted to the first team in 2020. With Zamalek, he made 22 senior appearances and provided one assist, then spent loan spells at Ismaily and ENPPI, gaining valuable top-flight experience.
In the summer of 2023, the defender joined Al Masry on a permanent deal. He went on to play 39 matches for the Port Said club, creating two goals and enhancing his reputation as a reliable and energetic full-back.
On the international stage, Eid has represented Egypt at under-23 level, helping the Pharaohs finish runners-up at the U23 Africa Cup of Nations and featuring at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
