Achraf Hakimi is edging towards a long-awaited comeback for Paris Saint-Germain after Morocco’s painful 1–0 defeat to Senegal in the AFCON 2025 final.
The right-back is due back in PSG training today alongside Senegal’s Ibrahim Mbaye, marking his first full club session since suffering an ankle sprain against Bayern Munich in November.
According to Paris-based daily Le Parisien, Hakimi is unlikely to be rushed straight into action this weekend, when PSG travel to Auxerre on Friday for Ligue 1’s Matchday 19. Instead, the medical and coaching staff are expected to manage his workload carefully after more than two months out, balancing his desire to play with the need to avoid any setback.
The more realistic target is a place in the squad for next week’s high-stakes Champions League home clash against Newcastle, the eighth and final matchday of the group stage. His return would be a major boost for Luis Enrique, who has been forced to improvise on the right flank in Hakimi’s absence, both domestically and in Europe.
Before his injury and AFCON duty, Hakimi had been one of PSG’s most reliable performers, combining defensive work with explosive runs and end product in the final third. Hakimi has played nine games and scored twice in Ligue 1 this season, underlining how much his penetration and finishing from deep have been missed during a crucial stretch of the campaign.
Now, with AFCON behind him and his ankle healed, the focus shifts to regaining rhythm and confidence in Paris. If all goes to plan, the Moroccan star could quickly re-establish himself as a key weapon on PSG’s right side for the decisive months ahead.
