Algerian coach Adel Amrouche to appeal suspension decision

Adel Amrouche 1

Adel Amrouche, the former coach of Tanzania’s national football team, has affirmed his intention to appeal the decision of an eight-match suspension imposed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The suspension comes in response to alleged false accusations leveled by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, accusing him of “collusion” and manipulating match schedules.

In a statement to Nigerian journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, shared on his “X” social media account, Amrouche stated, “I will appeal my suspension.”

He went on to say, “My lawyer advised me not to speak to the media, so I don’t want to say much at the moment.”

Concluding his statement, he raised questions, “How can I be suspended without receiving a disciplinary notice or a hearing session? How is this fair? Where is the justice in this?”

In an official statement, CAF confirmed fining the Tanzanian Football Federation $10,000 in light of Amrouche’s accusations when he was coaching the Tanzanian national team in the Africa Cup of Nations competition.

The disciplinary committee, under the oversight of the continental football governing body, issued its penalty against Amrouche on Friday.

Following the decision, the Tanzanian Football Federation promptly announced his dismissal from the position, replacing him with his assistant, Hamid Suleiman “Morocco.”
