Former Tunisia star Wahbi Khazri has been included in the newly constituted technical team for the Carthage Eagles, marking his return to the team after retirement.
He is expected to work with Sabri Lamouchi, who has been appointed by the Tunisia Football Federation to lead the Carthage Eagles.
Lamouchi recently replaced Sami Trabelsi, who was shown the exit door following Tunisia’s elimination from the round of 16 at the just ended AFCON 2025 in Morocco. He takes over the Carthage Eagles on a two-year deal until 2028.
While, Mikael Heffley and Olivier Bedumas serve as the assistant and goalkeepers coach respectively, the forward Tunisia attacker will charge off analysis department.
Meanwhile, Cedric Blom has been handed fitness coach job and is expected to see to the fitness of the national team players.
In mid-December, the former Tunisia star officially announced his retirement from football after a long career in Africa and Europe at large.
Khazri received several offers in the past period to continue his football career, but had not motivation to return to the field.
The 34-year-old Khazri is considered one of the stars of the Tunisian national team throughout history. He played 74 matches with the Carthage Eagles, scoring 25 goals.
He also played for several European clubs, most notably Sunderland in England, and Rennes, Saint-Étienne and Montpellier in France.
