Egypt international Mohammed Salah returned to Liverpool training ahead of the Champions League clash against Marseille following the closure of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Premier League club travels to face the Frecnh football powerhouse in a high-stake clash on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, with victory crucial to earning a place in the top eight of the league phase.
Salah had been absent from Liverpool due to his participation with the Egyptian national team in the recently concluded AFCON tournament in Morocco.
He led the Pharaohs to qualify for the semi-finals, but were unable to reach the final match after losing to Senegal.
In the third-place match, the Egyptian team lost on penalties, with Salah missing the Pharaohs’ first penalty.
Having returned to the UK, the enterprising attacker is expected to join his Liverpool teammates for the final training session on Tuesday ahead of the Marseille clash.
Salah has not played for the Reds since the win against Brighton at Anfield when he came on as a substitute in the first half and put on a standout performance.
While returning to training, the forward will undergo a medical examination before a decision is made regarding his participation in the Champions League match against Marseille.
Liverpool will travel to Marseille on Tuesday following their final training session led by Dutchman Arne Slot.
