The Haraki parliamentary group in Morocco’s House of Representatives has called on the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports to consider postponing official certification exams scheduled for Monday, 19 January, as they coincide with the national team’s historic AFCON final on Sunday, 18 January.
In a written question to the minister, MP Mohamed Ouzzine explained that the proposal stems from the deep symbolic and national significance of this sporting event, which goes beyond competition to embody a broader project for the nation and the continent. The initiative is framed within the royal vision that treats sport as a key driver of development, unity and cohesion.
The Haraki group stressed that reaching the final is a direct result of this strategic vision, which has enabled Morocco to build world-class sports infrastructure and deliver a highly praised organisational model, with massive local and international follow-up reflecting the country’s elevated status.
Ouzzine underlined that this rare football moment offers an entire generation of pupils and young people the chance to share in a wave of national pride.
The group therefore suggests postponing Monday’s exams by just one day to relieve pressure on students and allow them to prepare psychologically and academically in suitable conditions, describing such a move as a positive gesture that respects public sentiment and recognises the special nature of this period.
