José Peseiro, the coach of the Nigerian national football team, spoke about the upcoming encounter against Guinea-Bissau in the 2023 African Cup of Nations. After a modest yet efficient 1-0 victory against Ivory Coast, Peseiro emphasized the importance of concentration, adequate rest, and proper nutrition to secure a triumph in the upcoming match.
In their recent fixture on January 18, 2024, at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpé, Nigeria secured a 1-0 win against Ivory Coast. Peseiro, in his post-match reflections, lauded the commitment, determination, and solidarity exhibited by his players.
Acknowledging the physical exertion of the match, Peseiro stressed the significance of providing the players with the necessary rest, concentration, and nutrition – key elements in the pursuit of victory against Guinea-Bissau.
“Yesterday, we won an excellent match against Ivory Coast, supported by an impeccably executed strategic plan, by the quality, intelligence, determination, and mutual assistance of our boys.
It is up to us to stay focused on training, rest, and nutrition in order to beat Guinea-Bissau,” read Peseiro’s statement on his official page.
While Nigeria emerged victorious in their previous encounters with Guinea-Bissau during the AFCON 2023 qualifiers, securing identical 1-0 away wins, Peseiro acknowledges that the conditions and contexts for the upcoming match on January 22, 2024, at 5 p.m. GMT at the Félix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan will be different.
Guinea-Bissau is expected to pose a challenge, making preparation and strategic focus paramount for the Super Eagles.
