Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has addressed the issue of pressure ahead of their semi-final clash against Morocco at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Wednesday.
Speaking to CBS Sports Golazo, Osimhen stressed that although thousands of Moroccans will be cheering the home team, the Super Eagles won’t be under pressure and will put up their best performances.
“The Nigerian team is also among the favourites. I mean, they have a very strong squad and talented players, but I think we are also one of the most respected teams in this tournament, given the amount of talent we have within the group.
“But I assure you there is no pressure within the camp. There is absolutely no pressure, and we don’t talk about this amongst ourselves. We take each match as it comes. We faced a great team like Algeria, and we delivered a performance that showed the whole world that we are ready to compete for this title. But as I always say, it won’t be easy,” Osimhen said.
The Super Eagles star continued, “Naturally, the Moroccans will be playing in front of tens of thousands of their fans, which is an advantage for them. But on the other hand, many of us have played in stadiums with attendances exceeding 80 or 90 thousand spectators. Therefore, for me personally, I don’t feel any pressure at all.”
The high-stakes semi-final showdown between Nigeria and Morocco is scheduled to kick off at 20:00GMT on Wednesday.
