Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) found reassurance in their victory against Rapid Vienna after conceding a defeat to Sturm Graz earlier in the week. Coach Laurent Blanc, while preferring to talk about the overall preparation rather than focusing solely on the match, expressed satisfaction with the positive results of the team’s preparation in Austria.
Blanc emphasized the players’ acceptance of the heavy workload and praised the almost perfect conditions during the preparation. He stated, “It went very well. We had a lot of fun, and I think they deserved their two days off.” The team will resume training at Clairefontaine, with players gradually returning, including Marco Verratti on July 15 and Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ezequiel Lavezzi by the end of the week.
Regarding recruitment, Blanc clarified that the priorities remain finding a striker and a left-back. The coach also addressed the potential departure of Kevin Gameiro to Sevilla FC, stating, “We discussed it, he has a position which is simple and coherent, but we also have to look at the club’s position. For the moment, as you were able to see again this Friday evening, in this sector, Kevin is almost the only attacker we have. A decision will be made not immediately, but later.” Blanc acknowledged the need to assess the club’s situation before making a decision on Gameiro’s potential departure.
