The Tunisian Football Federation (TFF) is reportedly considering Nigeria tactician, Éric Sékou Chelle as their next head coach following the departure of Sami Trabelsi.
The Carthage Eagles are currently without a substantive coach following the departure of Sami Trabelsi after 2025 Africa Cup of Nation elimination.
Tunisia painfully exited the continental showpiece, being held in Morocco after falling short to Mali on penalties in the round of 16 clash.
The North African outfit had snatched a late lead in the 88th minute at the Mohammed V Stadium, but Mali staged a strong comeback to restore parity, forcing a penalty shootouts in the high-stake clash.
Tunisia are now on the hunt of the new coach following the exit of Trabelsi after early AFCON elimination, with Chelle emerging as top candidate for the job.
As reported by BSN Sport, Chelle is currently fully committed to Nigeria’s quest for the AFCON title. However, formal negotiations and any potential move are expected to be put on hold until the tournament concludes.
The new coach will be tasked with preparing the team for the 2026 World Cup, to be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Tunisia will face the Netherlands, Japan, and the winner of the European playoff B (Ukraine, Sweden, Poland, or Albania) at the group stages of the World Cup.
