Senegal defender Krépin Diatta has noted that his dream is to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with the Teranga Lions.
Speaking to Senegalese television channel RTS, Diatta reflected on missing Senegal’s historic 2022 success due to injury, while stressing that the achievement still meant a great deal to him.
“I missed the 2022 edition due to injury, but I assure you that I was extremely happy when we won the title, because what matters most to me is Senegal,” he said.
The Monaco defender went on to underline how winning the continental crown with his country remains a lifelong ambition, especially after previous near misses.
“Winning a title with my national team is a dream I’ve had since childhood. I lost the 2019 final and I wasn’t present in the 2022 final. I hope this edition will be suitable for that,” Diatta added.
Senegal are set to face Egypt in a highly anticipated AFCON semi-final on Wednesday at the Grand Stadium of Tangier, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00 GMT+1.
Diatta, who has played a key role for Senegal so far, will play an important role in the upcoming showdown.
