President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has praised the Super Eagles following their impressive 2-0 victory over Algeria in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The West African football heavyweights delivered a confident and disciplined performance to overcome their North African rivals, securing a place in the semi-finals and keeping their hopes of continental glory alive.
Goals from Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen and Sevilla attacker Akor Adams ensured the Super Eagles qualification to the semifinals on Saturday.
However, Bola Tinubu has heaped praise on the Super Eagles brilliant performance against Algeria, while promising support from Nigerians to the team.
“Brilliant Performance… Inspiring. Go, Super Eagles! You have the support of all Nigerians” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Nigeria have now set up a crucial semifinal tie against host country, Morocco, with both teams seeking for victory to secure a place in the final.
The Super Eagles secured silver medal in the last edition, held in Ivory Coast after losing the title to the Elephants.
