Mohamed Kader Meïté is quickly establishing himself as one of Ligue 1’s most exciting young talents.

The 18-year-old Franco-Ivorian striker has already scored three goals and provided two assists in 15 appearances this season, drawing attention from some of Europe’s top clubs.

Currently contracted to Stade Rennais until June 2028, the club is reportedly preparing to act decisively to secure Meïté’s future.

According to L’Équipe, Rennes is considering offering the prodigy a two-year contract extension, potentially keeping him at the club until June 2030.

The move would both reward the striker’s rapid rise and protect the club’s interests ahead of any future high-profile transfer.

“Mohamed has shown incredible maturity for his age,” a Rennes source told local media. “We want to make sure he continues his development here while also safeguarding the club’s position if major offers arrive.”

Meïté’s performances have already attracted significant attention across Europe.

Clubs such as Juventus, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Real Madrid have reportedly monitored his progress closely.

While a move during the January transfer window appears unlikely, Rennes is aware that interest will only intensify if the teenager continues his current trajectory.

Currently valued at €10 million on Transfermarkt, Meïté earns an annual salary of approximately €550,000 with Rennes.

The club sees both sporting and financial benefits in securing the striker long-term, ensuring they can either build around him or command a substantial transfer fee should an offer materialize.

The extension would also provide continuity at Rennes, where Meïté has become an increasingly central figure in attack.

Known for his intelligent movement, composure in front of goal, and technical skill, the striker has quickly adapted to the demands of top-flight French football, becoming a key asset for coach Bruno Génésio.

Rennes will look to continue this momentum in their upcoming Ligue 1 clash against Le Havre AC, marking their 18th match of the season.

Current betting odds from 1xbet place Rennes as favourites at 1.69, with a draw at 4.11 and a Le Havre victory at 5.49.

With European heavyweights already circling, Stade Rennais appears determined to act quickly.

Securing Mohamed Kader Meïté now would not only preserve the club’s competitive ambitions but also signal their intent to nurture one of France’s brightest young stars.
