Kylian Mbappe is set to rejoin full training today as Real Madrid step up their preparations for Sunday’s Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona in Jeddah.
Xabi Alonso confirmed the update, saying the French star is in contention to play despite recently suffering a knee sprain.
“Kylian will train today and then we will see whether he starts or comes from the bench,” Alonso explained, making clear the staff will not rush him back. He stressed that Real Madrid must “calculate the risks” and “live with the consequences”, underlining that the medical and technical teams will avoid any rash decisions.
Alonso also addressed concerns in defense, where Real have been dealing with instability and injuries in recent weeks. He noted that the situation has improved but said the squad will train again later before final choices are made on who is fit enough to feature in the Clásico showdown.
Madrid’s plan is to balance Mbappe’s desire to help his team lift another trophy with the need to protect his long‑term fitness in a season packed with major targets.
