Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Austrian-born defender of Nigerian descent, Ifeanyi Ndukwe, who currently plays for Austria Vienna.
Renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports that the Premier League side have secured a deal for the highly rated centre-back, who will officially complete his move in the summer once he turns 18.
The agreement represents another step in Liverpool’s strategy of investing in promising young talent from across Europe.
While the exact transfer fee has not been disclosed, previous reports indicated that Austria Vienna are set to earn a fee running into millions for their academy graduate.
The deal underlines the growing reputation of Ndukwe, who has impressed with his development despite his young age.
On arrival at Anfield, Ndukwe is expected to begin his Liverpool career with the club’s U21 side.
However, he is regarded as a player with significant potential and is seen as one who could push for first-team involvement in the future if his progress continues.
