The head coach of Burkina Faso, Brama Traore, has opened up about the team’s ambition for the remainder of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The experienced coach has successfully guided the Stallions into the knockout stage of the tournament, where they will face off with defending champions Ivory Coast in the Round of 16.
Speaking after the qualification, Brama Traore stressed that Burkina Faso are determined to go all the way to win the trophy.
“We are determined to make a difference in this edition of the ‘CAN’, and we seek to put a gold star on our national team’s jersey,” he said.
He added, “We strive to excel in the knockout stages, and we must continue to work hard and move forward in order to put a gold star on the Burkina Faso national team jersey.”
The Round 16 encounter between Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso is scheduled to be played on Tuesday, January 6. The match will kick off at 19:00 GMT.
Both national teams will be eager to pick a win in the high-stakes match to advance into the quarter-finals.
