Head coach of Egypt Hossam Hassan is eyeing an improved performance ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations knockout stage.
The Pharaohs finished on top pf Group B with seven points, one point ahead of second-placed South Africa, who defeated Zimbabwe 3-2 on Monday.
Before the final group game, Egypt had already secured a place in the round of 16 after back-to-back wins over Zimbabwe (2-1) and South Africa (1-0).
Speaking after the sides stalemate against Angola, the 59-year-old tactician promised an improved performance in the knockout stages of the continental showpiece.
“I am satisfied with the team’s performance during the three games in the group stage, and I promise the supporters that we will improve in the coming matches as well,” Hassan said in a television interview after the game.
Having already booked a place in the knockout stage, Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan made several changes to his starting lineup, giving opportunities to several fringe players in their game against Angola.
“I am confident in all 28 players in the squad. It was normal to give new faces a chance to participate in the tournament, while also giving other players some rest,” he added.
The Pharaohs will begin their round of 16 campaign on Monday against one of the best third-placed teams from the other groups.
