Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd sees market value rise after impressive form at Marseille

Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd was subjected to a doping test by the medical committee of the Local Organising Committee for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco following Friday’s group-stage encounter against Mali in the second round of matches.

According to the daily newspaper Al-Sabah, this marks the second time the Moroccan centre-back has undergone a doping test at the tournament, having previously been selected after Morocco’s opening fixture against the Comoros Islands.

The report explained that the medical committee applies a strict and detailed monitoring process to ensure that no player uses performance-enhancing substances.

The newspaper further disclosed that Moroccan goalkeeper Munir Al-Mohammadi was also tested after the same match, despite being an unused substitute so far in the competition, as the committee operates a random selection system when choosing players for testing.

Morocco will return to action on Monday when they take on Zambia, with the match scheduled to kick off at 8 pm.
