Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, has praised Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe for his presence and support at matches during the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Motsepe acknowledged the French star’s attendance in a social media post, adding that the presence of top football stars is a testament to the fact that AFCON 2025 is a world-class tournament.
“Thank you, Kylian, for your support of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025. The African Championship is truly a world-class event,” Dr. Motsepe said.
Mbappe was recently spotted in Marrakech, where he watched the highly anticipated Group F encounter between Ivory Coast and Cameroon, one of the standout fixtures of the tournament’s group stage.
Earlier in the competition, the World Cup winner was also present at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat for the clash between Morocco and Mali. On that occasion, Mbappe caught attention by wearing the jersey of his close friend and former Paris Saint-Germain teammate, Achraf Hakimi.
His appearances at multiple AFCON venues have added to the growing global spotlight on the tournament, reinforcing its status as one of the most prestigious football competitions on the continent.
Other global stars who have been in the stands to watch the AFCON include France legend Zinedine Zidane and Barcelona full-back Jule Kounde.
