German outfit, Eintracht Frankfurt, are set to push to sign France-born forward of Congolese descent Arnaud Kalimuendo in the January transfer window.
Following a brief Christmas break, sporting director Markus Krösche and the Frankfurt hierarchy have turned their attention back to squad reinforcements. With training set to resume on January 9, the Bundesliga club is said to be prioritising additions in attack during the winter transfer period.
Kalimuendo, who is currently on the books of Nottingham Forest, has emerged as Frankfurt’s primary target. According to sources, the 23-year-old striker sits at the top of the club’s wish list as they seek fresh firepower for the second half of the season.
Forest signed Kalimuendo from Stade Rennes in August for a fee reported to be around €30 million, but his debut campaign in the Premier League has proven challenging. Limited playing time has hampered his impact so far, a situation that could open the door to a temporary move away from England.
Eintracht Frankfurt are believed to favour a loan deal that includes an option to buy and are keen to wrap up the transfer before the January window closes. The need for attacking reinforcements has been heightened by injuries to Jonathan Burkardt and Michy Batshuayi, leaving the club short of options in the final third.
In addition to Kalimuendo, Frankfurt are also monitoring Younes Ebnoutalib of SV Elversberg. Reports suggest the club could pursue both players, with each offering a different attacking profile, as Frankfurt look to add depth and variety to their forward line for the remainder of the season.
