Mali head coach Tom Saintfiet shared his satisfaction on Friday night after his side battled to draw 1-1 with Morocco in their second Group A match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Saintfiet praised his players for putting up a top performance to pick up a crucial point from the host nation.
“We took two to three hours in analysing the Moroccan team. They first played well and after a few substitutes, we had the opportunity to deal with their transition.
“The first 10 minutes of the second half, we had good opportunities. Morocco had good attacks but we are fortunate to have quality and experienced players who know how to deal with such attacks. I am satisfied with my team’s performance,” the Mali coach said as quoted by CAFOnline.
With two points from the first two group matches, Mali need a win in their last match against Comoros to advance to the knockout stage of the tournament.
Tom Saintfiet is aware of what is at stake and is keen on getting the needed result.
“We will work towards instilling more confidence and prepare accordingly for the next match because we need a victory,” Tom Saintfiet added.
