Afraham Grant, the coach of the Zambian national team, addressed the media in the press conference preceding the match against the Democratic Republic of Congo, marking the first round of the group stage in the African Cup of Nations.
Grant spoke about his approach to the tournament with the Chipolopolo, stating, “I don’t like to set goals before any competition; the most crucial thing is how you deal with the matches.
We need improvement.”
He emphasized, “I know it’s a tough group with Morocco and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and there are teams better than us.
But football doesn’t play on paper.
When we step onto the field, winning is the goal.
We want to deliver a good performance in our matches.”
Grant continued, “We need to be realistic.
I and the players know what we have to do.”
“Our goal is to deliver a good performance in the group stage, and then we will see,” he added.
Closing his remarks, he said, “We will see in the first match whether the players are ready or not, but I know they are excited.
We have a good team and some good individuals.
We will be ready for sure, trying to change everything.”
