Burkina Faso rallied from behind to secure a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Equatorial Guinea in their opening match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Wednesday.

Equatorial Guinea’s Marvin José stole the spotlight in the 85th minute with a stunning goal, putting his team ahead 1-0.
The Equatorial Guinean fans erupted in joy, hoping their team could hold on for a crucial victory.
However, the drama was far from over as Burkina Faso mounted a spirited comeback in the dying minutes of the match. Georgi Minoungou became the hero for Burkina Faso, equalising in the 90th minute with a well-taken goal to level the score at 1-1.
Just when it seemed the match was destined for a draw, Edmond Tapsoba delivered a moment of magic for Burkina Faso, scoring a dramatic late winner in injury time to secure all three points for his side.
