Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has expressed optimism about Angola’s title chances at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Despite having Angolan root, the enterprising midfielder opted to represent France at the international level.
In an interview, Camavinga disclosed he followed the previous Africa Cup of Nations tournament, held in Ivory Coast, while insisting Angola has a genuine chance to win the title in Morocco.
“I’m supporting Angola at the Africa Cup of Nations… I followed the last Africa Cup of Nations, and we played well. I think this year we have a chance,” he said.
Camavinga was born in the town of Miconje in the Cabinda province on the west coast of Angola. However, just a year later he moved to France with his family.
Angola have already begun their campaign with a match against South Africa, which ended in a narrow 2–1 victory for Bafana Bafana. The Palancas Negras will take on Zimbabwe in their second group game on Friday, December 26, 2025.
Having succumbed to a defeat in their opener, the Palancas Negras will be hoping for a positive result against Zimbabwe to boost their chances of earning a spot in the knockout stage.
