Elias Achouri expressed deep satisfaction after his brace helped Tunisia start their AFCON 2025 campaign with a convincing 3–1 victory over Uganda in Rabat.
The winger played a starring role as the Carthage Eagles took early control of the Group C clash and never really let it slip.
Achouri was quick to shift the spotlight onto those around him, stressing that the result was built on collective effort rather than individual brilliance. He highlighted how the team’s organisation and intensity allowed Tunisia to dominate large spells of the match, with an early goal from Elyes Skhiri setting the tone before Achouri struck twice, once before the break and again midway through the second half.
“Thank you to my teammates first of all for the great work they put in helping us get the victory. I also want to extend a big thank you to the supporters who came out in their numbers in this rain,” he said.
“We hope we made our supporters proud. We hope we made them proud and that they were rewarded for their faith in us in such cold and wet weather conditions.”
Tunisia will play Nigeria in their next group C game on December 27th.
