The head coach of Angola, Patrice Beaumelle, shared his team’s disappointment on Monday after their defeat to South Africa in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Group B match played at the Grand Stade de Marrakech produced a thrilling contest which saw the Bafana Bafana bag all three points after a 2-1 win.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Angola coach Patrice Beaumelle described the result as disappointing.
“Obviously, we are a little disappointed to lose our opening match, because when you start a competition, it is always important to pick up points. We made two mistakes, and against a team of this level, every mistake is punished immediately,” he said.
Patrice Beaumelle added, “On our side, we must keep our heads up and move forward, because we still have two matches to play.”
After the defeat to South Africa, Angola will now look to pick up their first win at the tournament on Friday, December 26, when they take on Zimbabwe.
