Carlo Ancelotti has officially been appointed as the new coach of Real Madrid, succeeding José Mourinho. The former PSG coach, who recently made way for Laurent Blanc, has signed a contract for the next three seasons with the Spanish club. Ancelotti will be presented at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m., followed by his first press conference.
Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, confirmed Ancelotti’s appointment, expressing his confidence in the Italian coach. Ancelotti, who led PSG to the French championship title in 2012, has an illustrious coaching career, having won the Champions League twice as a player with AC Milan (1989 and 1990) and twice as a coach with the same club (2003 and 2007).
Ancelotti’s immediate goal with Real Madrid is to secure victory in the upcoming Champions League. Zinedine Zidane and Hernan Crespo are expected to join him as deputies.
However, the transfer market remains active, and there are speculations about Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Real Madrid. Ancelotti is keen on retaining Ronaldo, but the Portuguese star has reportedly received an offer of 150 million euros from a club, possibly Manchester United or PSG. The dynamics of Ancelotti’s departure from PSG may also play a role in these transfer talks.
